About Us
The New Jersey Veterinary Foundation is the charitable arm of the New Jersey veterinary community. The Foundation's animal welfare programs and educational assistance programs have worked to help animals and their owners maintain and strengthen the special bond that grows between humans and animals, and has helped ensure that New Jersey will continue to have the trained and licensed veterinarians necessary to maintain the health of New Jersey's pet and agricultural animal populations.
Over the years the Foundation has created programs to provide veterinary care for animals in need, and has supported other important programs that contribute to the well-being of animals and their owners. The Foundation also provides financial support to New Jersey veterinary students who, because New Jersey has no veterinary school, must pursue their education out-of-state at greater expense.
By supporting the Foundation's major fund raising event you will be helping a number of important programs:
- The Foundation supports New Jersey's statewide, low-cost spay and neuter program for shelter animals. By helping control the stray animal population, the program has led to a 50% annual reduction in the number of animals euthanized in New Jersey shelters.
- The Foundation provides fi nancial support to programs that use animals to serve the community by providing therapy to people in hospitals, nursing homes, schools, prisons and other care facilities.
- The Foundation supports pet loss grief therapy services for those grappling with the loss of a beloved pet.
- The Foundation will support other private initiatives dedicated to the welfare of animals.
Veterinarians' daily experience with the medical needs of animals and their owners has made us uniquely aware of the kind of help that is needed most, and the best way to provide that care. We tailor our programs to have the greatest benefi cial impact on animal health, and we offer services and insights that no other group can. |
